In-person registration

Students obliged to register in person

The following groups of students are excluded from self-registration and are obliged to register in person at the EIDUS secretary’s office within the deadlines set in the PhD registration calendar

  1. New doctoral students who must take complementary training by agreement of the academic committee of the doctoral program.
  2. Those who have obtained new admission after having been definitively withdrawn from the same doctoral program in which they have registered for thesis supervision in previous academic years.
  3. Visiting PhD students
  4. Students who have applied for temporary leave or leave due to illness, pregnancy or other causes foreseen in the current regulations and have not formalized the registration in the previous academic year.

Required documentation

New students

  1. Duly completed registration form for the academic supervision of a PhD thesis
  2. Where applicable, a “SEPA Direct Debit mandate” duly completed and signed by the debit account holder.
  3. Agreement of engagement and supervisionduly completed. Also available in Spanish: Acuerdo de compromiso documental y supervisión(ES)
  4. Certified photocopy or original and photocopy for comparison of the degree with which you are accessing the PhD studies: Master’s Degree, Undergraduate Degree or equivalent, PhD, Bachelor’s Degree, Architect, Engineer or equivalent, Research Proficiency, DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies), Specialisation in Health Sciences or training period of a transitional programme. Official certification of studies may be requested from certain students depending on their entry path. Students with foreign degrees who do not have officially approved qualifications must present the prior authorisation from the Rector of the University of Seville together with the certificate of accreditation of studies.
  5. Accreditation of previous official university studies (Undergraduate Degree, Bachelor’s degree, Certificate of Advanced Studies, etc.). The certification of previous studies (or proof of payment of issuing fees) will be required.
  6. An original, high-quality, passport-size photograph, with the name, surname(s) and DNI, NIE (or, if not available, passport number) of the student on the back.
  7. DNI (Spanish students), NIE (foreign students), Certificates of Residence Rights or European Union Citizens Card. Exceptionally, foreign students may present their passport, but only if they do not have a NIE.
  8. Students who are beneficiaries of grants, financial aid or research contracts awarded by official bodies or other calls for applications that meet the requirements established in article 21 of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, shall provide a copy of the credentials of this condition, especially when the exemption from payment of tuition fees is expressly stated in the corresponding announcement. The credentials must state the body funding the student and the amount granted.
  9. If the student is entitled to free or reduced tuition fees, they must justify it with a certified photocopy of the supporting documentation (except for Acción Social financial aid).
  10. Admitted students with an official Master’s degree or equivalent from another university outside the EHEA, which has not been officially approved or has not been declared equivalent to the academic level of Master/Doctor, must request prior authorisation from the Rector before admission, by submitting the Application for Prior Authorisation and the certificate of accreditation of studies through the General Registry.
    In the event that the concession of prior authorisation from the Rector of the Univ. Sev. is final, a copy of this authorisation must be provided. If the concession is provisional, the duly legalised and translated documentation that is pending in order to continue with the prior authorisation process must be provided.

Continuing students

  1. Duly completed registration form for the academic supervision of a PhD thesis

  2. DNI (Spanish students), NIE (foreign students), Certificates of Residence Rights or European Union Citizens Card. Exceptionally, foreign students may present their passport, but only if they do not have a NIE.

  3.  Where applicable, a “SEPA Direct Debit mandate” duly completed and signed by the debit account holder.

  4. Certified photocopy or original and photocopy to be certified, if the student is entitled to free or reduced tuition fees in accordance with the causes established in the Rector’s Resolution regulating the rules for registration. Students who are beneficiaries of grants, financial aid or research contracts awarded by official bodies or other calls for applications that meet the requirements established in article 21 of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, shall provide a copy of the credentials of this condition, especially when the exemption from payment of tuition fees is expressly stated in the corresponding announcement. The credentials must state the body funding the student and the amount granted.

  5. To apply for financial aid, see the specific Acción Social regulations. (Only for staff linked to the University of Seville). Family data must be updated in the Virtual Secretary’s Office.

On documents issued abroad
Documents issued abroad shall comply with the following requirements:

  • They must be official and issued by the relevant authorities, in accordance with the legal system of the country concerned.
  • They must be accompanied, where appropriate, by the corresponding official translation into Spanish.
  • In the event of doubt as to the authenticity, validity or content of the documents provided, the necessary steps may be taken for verification, and the competent authority issuing them may be contacted to validate any doubtful cases.

Visiting students.

The status of “Visiting student” is a mode of registration that has no academic effects but is done rather for personal reasons, and it cannot be combined with ordinary registration for the same programme. Registration as a visiting student grants temporary access to the services of the University of Seville that are available for the development of the student’s activities and will only entitle them to the issuing of the corresponding certificate. Activities carried out in the programme as a visiting student will not entitle the student to obtain a university degree.

Required documentation:

  1. M03B-Registration application form for external students duly completed.
  2. DNI (Spanish students), NIE (foreign students), Certificates of Residence Rights or European Union Citizens Card. Exceptionally, foreign students may present their passport, but only if they do not have a NIE.
  3. One passport-size photograph.
  4. Proof of current registration in PhD studies at their home university.
  5. Proof of health coverage in Spain.

All documentation must be official and submitted, where appropriate, legalised by the statutory channels and officially translated.
